Another £300,000 was added to the latest round of investment, enough to buy up to 250 additional e-cargo bikes

The eCargo Bike Grant Fund has received another £300,000 from the UK government. The Energy Saving Trust's initiative assists small businesses in incorporating e-cargo bikes into their daily operations.

The most current round of the eCargo Bike Grant Fund, which was established in April 2019, allowed organizations to apply for up to 40% of the cost of an e-cargo bike, with a maximum of £2,500 available for two-wheel models and £4,500 for three-wheel models.

Applicants could apply for up to five bikes per organization, as well as joint "high-street" applications for bikes shared by many enterprises.

On July 30, 2021, applications began with a £400,000 prize pool. They were then forced to close on October 8 after the application threshold was reached.

However, an extra £300,000 has been made available for a later round of applications that were received on November 3 enough to purchase up to 250 more e-cargo bikes.

"It's inspiring to witness the success of the eCargo Bike Grant Fund so far, with many new e-cargo bikes being acquired by businesses in England," Tim Anderson, head of transport at the Energy Saving Trust, said.

"We are sure that the additional £300,000 funding pool has given more small companies the chance to make long-term reforms to their last-mile deliveries and freight transportation."

"E-cargo bikes are a popular low-carbon transportation choice that saves money on gas while also improving local air quality both of which are crucial as we push forward with the low-carbon transportation goal."
